Narrative

Cape Abilities Residential Services is a full, varied program. We make sure that people with disabilities can choose the living situation or setting that best meets their needs, We can better their quality of life.

This program lets our people live as independently as possible. They still get the care and support they need. They have the security and comfort of knowing they have a life-long home.

  • Supervised Living
  • ABI/MFP Suervised Living
  • Statewide Head Injury Program (SHIP) Residential Supports
  • Community Living/In Home Supports
  • Adult Family Care (AFC)
  • Shared Living

Cape Abilities’ Adult Family Care (AFC) is an approved medically based Mass Health funded program. We  have 24-hour home care in a personalized setting. We serve both older people and adults with medical needs. They cannot live alone. The program also supports people with developmental disabilities (DD). They have medical, physical or cognitive challenges that make it hard to live alone.

AFC lets people who have chronic health needs maintain their dignity. They can have satisfying life routines with help from a paid, trained, in-home family or non-family caregiver.

Shared Living is an important alternative to group homes. The Shared Living program matches adults with disabilities with families or people (providers) who want to share their home. Program supports people with:

  • transportation
  • community involvement
  • activities of daily living like:
  • personal care
  • cooking
  • money management

This living arrangement provides structure for development, growth and change. It leads to lifelong friendships. People who open their homes often develop new ideas about what makes a family. They find sharing their home most gratifying.
